Matthew Matt James was born in North Carolina on December 5 1991. He is the daughter of Manny and Patty James and is of mixed race. He has an Nigerian mother as well as an American caucasian father. He graduated in 2010 at Sanderson High School and furthered to Wake Forest University where he completed a bachelor's in economics in 2015. James made headlines when his appearance on The Bachelorette as a reality TV star. James was selected to play the role of the new bachelor on The Bachelor season 25, being the show's first African American male star. The show debuted later in that year. James's height, looks and personality make him an ideal choice to play the role. Rachael Krakconnell was the one James chose as his girlfriend to date for the rest of the season. In the season 30 (in 2021) of Dancing with the Stars, He competed along with dancer Arnold. James and Arnold were ranked 12th.
